Changing The Way The World Does Business

Changing The Way The World Does Business

“A good day’s pay for a hard day’s work.”

For generations, this is what has inspired people and businesses owners from all over the globe to come to America and live out their dream.  Work hard, dream big and live BIGGER.  This simple yet powerful notion has forever transformed people, culture, business and the social fabric of our very existence.  Interestingly however, it is this very notion that many experts today are now questioning.  Many are asking… is this sustainable?  Is this way of life and fundamental business model truly sustainable?  Can we as Americans sustain our typically exploitive behaviors and capitalist mentalities?  And when I say exploitive, I don’t just mean to the environment… I mean to society and humanity in general.

Well this particular muse of mine is not about the environment.  Nor is it about exploitation or capitalism.   What I would like to talk about today is The Power Of Purpose.

But, wait!  Before I share with you my thoughts and experiences on purpose and its power, let’s review and drill down one step further.  I think we can all agree that business production and outsourcing is predicated on work (or labor) and that time invested to achieve a desired result.  Consequently, compensation models and corporate structure in general are therefore based on this simple process – you punch the clock, do your work, put in your time, and you and the business make money.  Simple.

Well, what if we (for the purposes of this discussion) challenged this present paradigm and shifted or re-structured compensation (and the work environment or corporate culture) more toward the desired result – sort of like the small base plus commission models we commonly see in the sales environment?  What if it were possible to transform every (work/job related) role within a company, corporation or small business in this result driven fashion?  How would it work?  Is it even possible?  Well, the answer is… not only is it possible, it is being done – and beautifully so!

Enter, Synergy Sales & Marketing.  At Synergy, we provide businesses (seamlessly, as though it is in-house/theirs) an entire, whole marketing department (all of it’s people, talents, initiatives, deliverables, deployment, tools and technology) and an entire, whole sales department (including recruiting, training, managing, motivating, automating, and accountability), on more of a results basis.  We become and ARE our clients… and they are us.  How do we do this?  We all (everyone including even our administrative and internal operating staff) work for a fraction of what we normally would get paid to manage and perform the very same tasks and responsibilities.  We do this however, because we ALL are connected to and compensated handsomely by the results.  Every sale we together (as equals, as a team) generate for every client (whether you are an admin or a graphic designer), is shared and spread throughout the team.  So while it is true that everyone at Synergy ultimately get’s paid much more for their role and duties, what this has also created is a colony of artists free to paint their passionate masterpieces on their own canvasses, “connected” to each and every other persons canvass and masterpiece – all driven by the power of purpose.

The leaders at Synergy have made a choice.  They are on a mission driven by their own sense of purpose… to empower.  For us, it is not about the result ironically as it is the journey and the transformation of lives.  We have lovingly chosen not to make this mission about money or the division of us and them.  We are them, and they are us.  So, Synergy never will be about me.  Never, EVER!  This is my eternal vow to the higher power.  It is about changing the world, one artist, one soul, one person at a time.  Giving them the freedom to be who they are and what they want to be.

If our people are courageous enough to empty their own cups, so that they can fill it again, they will ALL experience a richness that incorporates everything we all seek as humans: truth, support, guidance, hand holding, camaraderie, friendship, and freedom – of expression, thought, religion, sexual preference, etc.  They have all this and the money just follows as a result.  As we all know, money comes and goes, but the journey, the memories, the lessons, the relationships and stories along the way are always what stay with us.  This is what we all seek.  To have our cake and eat it to.

At Synergy, we don’t interview candidates to fill a role we need filled – deciding for them based on our needs.  At Synergy, we interview our candidates asking them what they want to be when they grow up.  What they are passionate about.  What they would be doing if money wasn’t an object.  If they were holding Aladdin’s lamp, what their wish would be.  And, if that wish, that passion aligns with a client, our team, a direction, a movement we need help with, them come on and jump in.  Here’s your paint, your brushes and your canvass.  Now, as Seth Godin (the great marketing mind of our generation) would say, “Ship”!  <<For those who don’t yet understand, nor are fluent in Seth speak, ship = deliver/produce/complete.>>

At Synergy, our people are dreamers, entrepreneurs, artists, thinkers, doers all empowered by purpose and the human experience.  And, what we genuinely thought would be a weakness of this wonderful model when we first started building it out was… where were we going to find these people?  Would they stick?  Who is going to work for beer money to make big money (and all those other riches)?  Well, what we found out was, this was not a weakness at all, but a strength!  Some of our team members are former health care providers and doctors, business owners, executives, ivy league graduates, and yes, supermarket cashiers.  Our team are all working for the journey and the dream.  To live, love, create and deliver with passion and… purpose.

At Synergy, we are not about a good day’s pay… Nope.  We are about the beautiful simplicity of just a good day.  A really good day.  A really good day every day, every week, every month, every year, every lifetime, every life.  At Synergy, we are a living, breathing example of what we feel is the New American Dream.  A new model for a new world economy and social well being.

Synergy Sales & Marketing… the power of purpose… In Action.

  9. How do you measure your results? What’s a good ROI and how do you charge for it?
I vaguely remember this altruistic tone in a title form long ago… it had the word “manifesto’ in it.
